Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

image

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE essential oils? Specifically pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

I was introduced to essential oils a little over a year ago by a dear friend of mine. She had an answer for every ailment with these magical oils. I wasn’t able to try them right away because she lived a few states away, and they just weren’t on the top of my priority list at the time. Silly me! I wish I had tried them sooner! I had no idea at the time how truly amazing they are and how much they would change my life!

I could write about essential oils for days and days, ¬†but I’m going to go ahead and keep this (relatively) short and sweet. ūüôā With an introduction to Lemon essential oil.

Lemon essential oil has many uses in my home ūüôā

My favorites are:

1.) Hot tea with lemon: ¬†I love to add lemon essential oil to my tea. I used to use a lemon wedge, but I was always worried about pesticides being on the skin. dŇćTERRA essential oils contain no pesticides, no chemical¬†residues, or additives of any kind. They are 100% pure.

2.) Rev up your metabolism & cleanse the toxins: ¬†Have you heard how amazingly beneficial adding hot water with lemon to your morning routine is? Well, essential oils have made my life easier because I’m able to rev up my metabolism every morning with my hot water + 5 drops of lemon essential oil. ūüôā

3.) Make water better: ¬†Cold water is also great with lemon essential oil. Do you ever get bored of plain old water? I love to make myself a beautiful batch of fruit + essential oils (pictured is my fruit infused water + Slim & Sassy essential oil blend) . My water is never boring, and yours shouldn’t be either! ūüėČ

imageimage

We also love to make lemonade with the lemon essential oil, we also like to add some to our fresh veggie/fruit juice, and even frosting! Can you imagine a luscious lemon frosting made with lemon essential oil? The kiddos love it!

image

4.)¬†Washing produce: ¬†I try to buy mostly organic produce, but it’s not always available, and I don’t have dollars coming out of my ears, so sometimes I have to give in and purchase conventional produce. When I do, I can feel better about the levels of ¬†pesticides actually getting into our meals because I not only soak the fruits & veggies, but I use lemon essential oils to help break the bind of pesticides on the surface.

5.) Disinfecting Porous Surfaces:¬†All you need is 3-4 drops per 32oz spray bottle and you’ve got your elbow grease in the palm of your hands! We don’t get sick much around here anymore, but when we go back to school or if we have company who isn’t feeling well, I make sure to wipe down all the door knobs/handles with this fine lemon mix.

There are so many more uses and benefits for integrating lemon essential oil into your healthy lifestyle, but I will end it there for now. Those are my top, everyday uses, in my home, for lemon essential oil.

Can you live without it? You shouldn’t have to! If you’re interested in trying a fee sample, please let me know, I’d me be than happy to send you one ūüôā

Running Through My Mind

Once again, I’ve let every responsibility in the world come before the good ol’ blog.

Well, I’m back! And expect to see me often.

I’ve got some exciting projects coming up and some extra special collaborations with some¬†amazing people¬†to bring you more inspiration to start living the life of your dreams too! ūüôā

¬†I’m so, so close to being done with school. I’ve been focusing so hard on each task at hand to ensure that I get the most out of what I have with them right NOW. Living in the present.

Unfortunately, that’s resulted in me slacking in the exercise department too. I’ve done this or that, here and there, but no consistency. As we all know, consistency is KEY. So expect to see more fitness related content from me as well. I’ve got to walk my talk ya know! ūüėČ

Today I was able to get out for a run. I love running. ‚̧ I didn’t always love running, but now it’s like my meditation time. I don’t have much time to just sit and meditate (if I do, there’s 2 rambunctious boys in the background)

Have you ever realized how much you can mentally work through during a 30 minute run?

I told myself, “run 15 minutes away, then run right back.” So I did. ūüôā

Look at the lovely view I had running along Johnsons Pond.

NutritionalEquilibriumRUN1 NutritionalEquilibriumRUN2  NutritionalEquilibriumRUN3

Then the sun finally came out.

NutritionalEquilibriumRUN4

I was able to figure out my most important goals and what I need to do to make them a reality in my life. (I do this for a living! I better be able to do it for ME)

Are you ready to run through my mind? Here’s what I thought throughout my run today:

“Ah, jeez. Why has it been so long since I’ve done this?” “What, did my shoes get heavier?”

“lalalalala”

“inhale, exhale”

“You’ve got this, go faster!” “PUSH” “That hill’s not big

“Phew, okay, slow down. I can’t breathe!”

“Hmm, I wonder what that breathless workout’s all about.. aren’t we supposed to breathe though? I need to learn more about the science of oxygen and muscles and exercise”

“Why do they honk? Really, do they get pleasure out of scaring me?”

“Man, I need to do this everyday, it hurts too much if I don’t.”

“ugh but I need to blog. And finish my website.¬†And schedule follow ups with my clients. And cook dinner. And finish school!¬†And become a presidential diamond with doterra so I can make millions.”

“That’s it. I¬†can blog just like I am running right now, just DO it!”

“I can’t breathe”

“Ahhh downhill”

“Okay, I need to sit down and write out all of my goals when I get home, right after I stretch these legs out”

“What are my goals?”

“I need to find a way to get all of my knowledge out there for the world to know too”

-Second Wind-

“I want to spread my love to the world, how do I do that?”

“I need to just do that.”

“But I cant remember anything as soon as I sit in front of the computer, I go blank.”

“Then ask! People ask you things everyday, why not blog about each topic you get asked about? Yea! That’s awesome. I’m awesome.”

“I love life”

“I need to share my love (and experience) with everyone so they can feel this way too”

‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

“positivity is the root of love and life”

“Woah, we’re back already!”

Haha So who else thinks like that while running?¬†I know I’m not alone!

So maybe I didn’t figure out exactly what I have to do, but I feel much better about it all. I feel like each piece is achievable. In fact, I feel unstoppable.

I have a LOT to do. ūüôā

Stay tuned tomorrow for a post featuring my eats & drinks from my Summerlicious Glow Cleanse. xoxoxo

Much love & light to you my friends!

Summerlicious Glow Cleanse – Nutritional Equilibrium

miracle cure juice

 Tomorrow is Day 1!

Day one of my Summerlicious Glow Cleanse, that is!

I wish I had been able to get on here and share this with you all. I started planning for it months ago. It’s a TON of work to put together a cleanse! Then, to test out the cleanse, on myself and on my clients (over and over too!). If you’re thinking,”How hard could it be?” Please, by all means, try and put one together. ūüėÄ

I am finally so very pleased with each and every recipe included in this cleanse. The only thing that still needs work is the actual design of the content.

((If anybody knows a thing or two, and feels super generous, I would love some feedback! ūüôā ))

¬†I’ve gone back & forth from simple text to full out “pretty” versions haha.. The simple text seems much easier to follow.¬†We’ll see where we end up with the design, but for now I am pleased to share it with some of my fellow classmates, clients, friends, and family.

This is not a juice-only cleanse, this cleanse includes fresh juices, succulent smoothies, delicious salads and savory meals after day 5. Originally I designed this cleanse to be 5 days, but have added an additional 5 days to re-introduce super simple cooked meals and simple tasty snacks that¬†will keep your blood sugar balanced and your mind happy. ūüôā

I’ve also included yoga & workout suggestions that will work well¬†with the nourishment you’re providing for your bod pod.

I’ve created a private FB group for support and inspiration, where¬†I will be posting daily. I will¬†share some of my recipes here in the days ahead.

I am so ready to clean out¬†my temple¬†from all the (not-so-good) goodies we’ve indulged in since the winter. We just kept going, and going…

What Are YOU Hungry For?

As many of you know, I am finishing up my education at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I want to share with you one of the unique teachings that really speaks to me deeply: Primary Food.

What is Primary Foods, you ask?

HolisticIINHealth

¬†¬†¬† Well, think back to a time when you were deeply involved in a project you loved. You were excited about this project, and it stimulated your senses.¬†The outside world faded away. You didn’t feel the need to eat, or you didn’t remember to eat and someone had to come by and remind you.

Remember back to when you were a child, playing outside with friends. When dinner is ready Mom or Dad are there to remind you that it’s time to come and eat, but what did you say as a child? More often than not, you probably responded with, “No thanks! not hungry yet! :)”

As a child, you live off Primary Food. Play fuels children and the little food you get in is Secondary Food, nourishment from calories, vitamins, and minerals.

The same is true when you’re deeply in love, or working passionately on a project that you’re excited about. Primary Food is the fun, excitement, and love of daily life. They have the power to feed us so that we feel full and food becomes secondary.

Now think of a time when you were sad, lonely, or your self-esteem was low; you were starving for primary food. No amount of secondary food would do. You ate as much as you wanted, but never felt satisfied.

Even in good times when we come home at night, we often look to the fridge for something to eat, when all we really want is a hug or someone to talk to.

Elements such as an inspiring career, meaningful spiritual practice, enjoyable physical activity, and honest and open relationships that feed your soul and your hunger for living all constitute primary food.

The more primary food we receive, the less we depend upon secondary foods. The same is true for the opposite. The more we fill ourselves with secondary foods, the less we are able to receive the primary foods of life.

All that we consider today as nutrition is really just a secondary source of energy.

To have an understanding that it is not just what you eat, it’s the water you drink, the air you breathe,¬†the love in your life, the fact that you exercise, and so much more.

Think about the person who goes home at night and binges on junk food, do you think that exact same person would go home at night and binge if they came home to someone who gave them a warm hug and said, “I love you.” …Much less likely. As yourself this, does this person have and eating disorder? Or a love deficiency? This is a very serious problem that many people suffer with. I’ve been there.

Make sure you are getting your Vitamin L: LOVE

It’s not just relationships, it’s career too, you’re work is¬†nearly half your life.¬†If you are in a job that you don’t like, that is painful to be at. You will live a¬†life unfulfilled. I’ve been there too, I get it. It’s odd to me now, though, to witness people spending 8-10 hours a day in an environment that they don’t love, don’t believe in, and is diametrically opposed to their personal values. This is not healthy. I don’t care how much 401K you have.

It’s not only the foods you’re eating, it is also the environment you are assimilating that really will¬†effect¬†your health and your¬†future. A lot of people believe it is only a dream to work in a field that you are passionate about and fully believe in. It’s not a dream! It is fully available to people who insist that it should be that way.

Please take time to explore your primary foods as you embark on your health journey.

What are YOU hungry for?

Who are you? What is your unique gift that you can share with the world?

If you are interested in working with me contact me for a free consultation.

If you would live to learn more about The Institute For Integrative Nutrition, please feel free to ask me anything!

Much love and light to you,

Angie

How To Get Things Done

“Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.” David Allen

How mind blowing is that statement right there? Really take a moment, take a deep inhale, then exhale. Now, is your mind clear? Or are you still thinking about all the things you think of every moment of everyday? “I have to…, I can’t forget to…, Oh man, what was that thing I was supposed to be thinking about? Why can’t I remember.. What is it..” Sounds familiar?

As some of you may know, I have been spending the past year working on building a business. Building a business takes a lot of thinking! And remembering! I can say that I’ve never considered that I’ve always used my brain as a storage device before this year, but I have. Are you?

brain1

I remember a time when I fell behind about a week in school. I was so worried and nervous about being behind by a week, that I spent almost another week worrying about how I was going to get caught up! Do you know what I mean? I basically wasted hours “worrying” but not taking action. I became so trapped in my thoughts of “I can’t do it now..” but I could have!

I could have sat down with a notepad and a pen and written out all of the things that I was worried about completing. If you write out all of your responsibilities for the week, you don’t have to think about them anymore! Then, after writing out your responsibilities, you cant jot down the steps you need to take to complete those tasks. Then, the amount of time it will take you. Not only will you have a better understanding about what you have to do, but what you have TIME to do. If you add up all of your responsibilities and the time limit you have to do them in, you’re able to move tasks around to where they fit in best for you. That saves space for you to think about things that are happening in the present. When you think about what is happening in the present, you are able to fully engage and obtain the best results. What do you think about your amount of productivity day in and day out? Do you think you could work to improve your skills in time management to optimize your productivity? This is definitely something I would like to master.

looking-universe-22843320

¬†For as long as I can remember I’ve been storing things in my brain. That’s what my brain is for, right? …Maybe not.¬†After that moment when I realized that I had been using my brain as a storage device, I decided to type “How to get things done” into my Google search bar. What I came across was priceless. I found the artist of stress free productivity, David Allen.

If you have been struggling with time management and getting things done, please watch this wonderful video. It will change your life! ‚̧

You may want to watch it 2… or ten times. ūüôā

So how do you feel now? Are you going to make some changes in the way you store your information? Let go of things that really don’t serve you? I hope this helps you the way it has helped me!

Love, Light, and peace of mind,

ūüôā Angie

Reflections of a Vision Board

I was looking through my first binder that I put together when I first received my books and welcome pack from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I came across my 1st assignment, which was to create a vision board for what I want out of life, career, what will bring me happiness and abundance? This is what I put together:

Image

Right away I see healthy eating & fitness. Look a little deeper and you’ll see I love to juice fresh fruits & vegetables, I love to make delicious & nutritious smoothies. Look even deeper and you’ll see that my intention is to just be, simplify, while experiencing my own personal growth, and pursuit of happiness, health and success.

While I learn I will also teach.

My mission is to create a ripple effect of health and happiness. I want you to know what it feels like to have unlimited energy. I want you to know what it feels like to evict negativity from your thoughts and only think kindly about everyone, including yourself.

I hope to inspire those around me to think for themselves. Do what you feel best doing, and stay grounded with love. I know it’s not always easy to do that, but once you make the shift, you’ll never go back! Don’t be afraid to love people up! Each time you send love to another human being, they are going to take that love and spread it in their world, which is your world- our world. We all live here. Let’s spread some extra love and happiness out there. Can you imagine what the world would be like if every single person on this plant loved themselves and everyone around them? Love’s powerful stuff!

I will be working on an updated vision board for 2014, I invite you to put together your own to create intentions and then decide your action steps.

What do you want out of this life?

Please feel free to comment & share with us your vision! ‚̧

Much Love & Light to you,

Angela

The Dirty Dozen & Clean Fifteen – Shoppers’ Guide to Pesticides

Image

Have you been trying to incorporate more organic nutritionally dense produce into your life? Are you feeling like you’re spending too much money on organic? Wondering if it’s worth it?

Two-thirds of washed produce samples in recent government tests had pesticide residues. Did you know A single grape sample contained 15 pesticides. Single samples of celery, cherry tomatoes, imported snap peas and strawberries showed 13 different pesticides a piece.
Or how about the fact that a conventional head of lettuce contains 68 different pesticide residues?! 68!!

The USDA’s most recent pesticide monitoring data included hundreds of samples of packaged¬†baby food. Which was found to contain acetamiprid, a neonicotinoid pesticide, as well as carbendiazim, a fungicide.

The USDA found 6 different pesticides in apple juice, including DPA, which was banned in Europe in 2012.

I encourage you to do further research on the toxicity and dangers of pesticides and fungicides used by big agra today.

So are ALL conventional¬†fruits and vegetables dirty? … Not quite.

EWG’s Clean Fifteen‚ĄĘ for 2014 – the produce least likely to hold pesticide residues – are avocados, sweet corn, pineapples, cabbage, frozen sweet peas, onions, asparagus, mangoes, papayas, kiwis, eggplant, grapefruit, cantaloupe, cauliflower and sweet potatoes. Relatively few pesticides were detected on these foods, and tests found low total concentrations of pesticides.

Notable findings:

  • Avocados were the cleanest: only 1 percent of avocado samples showed any detectable pesticides.
  • Some 89 percent of pineapples, 82 percent of kiwi, 80 percent of papayas, 88 percent of mango and 61 percent of cantaloupe had no residues.
  • No single fruit sample from the Clean Fifteen‚ĄĘ tested positive for more than 4 types of pesticides.
  • Detecting multiple pesticide residues is extremely rare on Clean Fifteen‚ĄĘ vegetables. Only 5.5 percent of Clean Fifteen samples had two or more pesticides.

I want to share with you The Environmental Working Groups’ Dirty Dozen & Clean Fifteen Shoppers’ Guide to Pesticides.

Image

Print this awesome guide out and stick it right on your fridge! Keep yourself up to date as the levels change each year.

It is good to know that you can save some money by buying conventional on some important staples that could have 0 pesticide residue.

Although,¬† wouldn’t recommend buying conventional sweet corn because it is almost certainly genetically modified. That’s another crazy way they are messing with our food supply.¬†I’ll go more into that in a future post.

I hope you are able to use this tool in your daily life. It has definitely saved me some money since I started to use it. I used to let it slide when buying strawberries, bell peppers, and cucumbers because they are so unbelievable expensive for organic. I also used to avoid every item on the clean fifteen list unless it was organic. Ironic, huh! Knowledge is power.

Vote with your dollars. When you can, buy organic. If you can’t AVOID the dirty dozen.

Much love & light to you,

Angie

Is Kombucha Really Good For You?

“The wide variety of complaints relieved by Kombucha is almost not
comprehensible. But it is explainable on the basis that Kombucha
does not target a specific body organ but, rather, influences the
entire organism positively by effecting a stabilization of the
metabolic situation and the detoxifying effect of its glucuronic
acid. In many people, this leads to a heightened endogenic defense
capacity against those toxic influences and environmental stresses
which inundate us from many sides. The result is the invigoration
of a damaged cellular metabolism, and the restoration and firming
up of one‚Äôs well-being.‚ÄĚ -Gunther W Frank (leading authority on
kombucha tea, author of “Kombucha: Healthy beverage and natural
remedy from the Far East‚ÄĚ)

WhobalKombucha

Yeah, baby!

¬†¬† Kombucha¬†is a delicious health elixir that¬†has been around for over 2,000 years.¬† It is made from sweetened tea that has been fermented by a scoby¬†(aka ‚Äúmother‚ÄĚ because of its ability to reproduce multiple scobies, or mushroom)

My experience with Kombucha Tea:

I had my first ever kombucha when I was in my second trimester with Kayden. I decided to try it because I was looking for vegan sources of probiotics and Kombucha is an excellent source of RAW LIVE probiotics!

With my first sip I fell in love. I hadn’t drunk soda in about 6 years so it felt like I was sipping on a strawberry soda!

I immediately felt the effects the Kombucha Tea had on my body and mind. My whole body was tingling, while my mind felt clear and vibrantly awake.

I now drink Kombucha Tea daily.  I have learned to brew my own. It’s a very rewarding process that hardly takes any time. Check out this post where I show you how to make your own.

Benefits of Kombucha Tea:

Improves Digestion- Kombuca tea provides RAW LIVE probiotics which are healthy digestive flora which help your body to digest foods and absorb nutrients more efficiently. Kombucha tea has been proven to aid in weight loss for those looking to shed extra un-needed weight.

Alkaline Forming- Kombucha outside the body is acidic, similar to lemons or apple cider vinegar. However, inside the body, it has an alkalizing effect. pH Balance is extremely important to the proper function of your digestive system.

Because of the alkalizing effect on the body and the high levels of glucuronic acid, scientists in Russia and Germany have linked Kombucha Tea to an immunity to cancer.

Reduces Stress- The tea used to make Kombucha contains theanine which promotes alpha wave production in the brain and also increases serotonin levels.

Natural Energy Boost- Theanine + Caffeine, vitamin B6 and other B vitamins, and antioxidants all work together to cleanse and detoxify the liver. The assist in eliminating heavy metals and toxins which allows your body to run more efficiently helping your body absorb the highest amount of nutrients from the foods you eat. Gluconic acid breaks down to Caprylic acid, a potent anti-fungal that can immensely help those suffering from candida.

Aside from the health benefits of Kombucha Tea, you can use Kombucha on the outside of your body for beauty benefits as well. It can be used on the face/skin as a natural astringent. It can be used to keep your hair looking and feeling strong, full of volume, even restoring the color of your hair!

Last but not least, you can pour Kombucha Tea all over your feet to cure athlete’s foot. Hopefully you wont ever have to do that.

I LOVE Kombucha Tea, do you? Do you know anyone who is missing out on these amazing benefits? Tell them about it! :o)

Have a happy & healthy day!!

xoxoxo

Angie

What’s bubbly, delicious, & good for your gut?

Kombucha!!

Do you LOVE Kombucha¬†like I do?? Kombucha¬†has got to be my favorite thing to drink. I gave up soda over 6 years ago so the first time I tried Kombucha¬†was the first time I had anything bubbly to drink since then! The very first time I tried Kombucha¬†it was because of a lovely lady named Dashama. I highly recommend checking her out! She‚Äôs amazing, she has some great videos on Youtube¬†like this one. Anyway, my favorite is GT‚Äôs Strawberry Serenity. You know what, though? I am a stay at home mom of 2 and I can‚Äôt afford $3.69 ‚Äď $4.69/ bottle! So I did a little research. First I found out that there are countless sources for buying your own scoby¬†(mushroom that ferments the tea by eating up the sugar). Then I found out that you could just take a bottle of raw kombucha, leave it on the counter for a week (I suggest pouring it into a container with a larger mouth so you can get the scoby¬†out!) And Voila! You now have your very own scoby! Yayy!

You will need: Scoby

Tea (I like to use Green Tea)

Any type of sugar (I use organic sucanat and I will try honey soon!)

& Container to put it in!

First thing’s first…

Boilwater

Boil your water!

Boiltea

Steep tea for 3-5 minutes. Add 1 cup of organic sugar to the tea.

Bkombucha

Once cooled, add tea to Ball jars. (Or any container you have on hand) and add scoby.

Now find a room temp, dark place to allow your scoby to ferment your green tea. (I put mine on a shelf in my closet) It will take between 4-9 days depending on your scoby.

Once the tea becomes Kombucha….

bkombucha1

Notice the bubbly bubbly?

I add some freshly pureed strawberries…

bkombucha2

bkombucha3

After that, I gently stir the mixture, put a lid on it and keep it in the fridge for about another week. The added sugar from the strawberries will kickstart to scoby’s fermentation and it will get super bubbly. So be careful, sip slowly, and do not shake it! : )

Enjoy!!

Have you tried Kombucha? Are you ready to try to brew your very own batch? Try it out!

Stay happy & healthy,

Angie
